[18:54:37] <arcanicanis> This is a very niche and obscure question, but: is there a way (server-side) with WebSockets, to skip the protocol name check (as required in RFC 7395, XMPP Subprotocol for Websockets, section 3.1)?
The answer to "why" is that I'm toying with building a basic demo XMPP client all within the limitations of a relatively basic visual scripting language inside a VR platform (and I've already built enough of a working XML parser too), and it has an interface for handling WebSockets, but nothing to set the sub-protocol name, thus the server drops the connection right away.
The motive of it all is also to showcase "See, XMPP is actually a fairly simple and well-designed protocol, that I can even build enough of a working client with just basic string splitting and comparison functions; go ahead and try to accomplish the same with Matrix..", and also as an entry for a maker competition thing for said VR platform.
